I have purchased The Purpose Driven Life’s book a while ago and when my friend’s birthday came by I gave it to her. At the moment it seemed like a great idea and I am sure it was the best gift for her, but I had realized I had not read the book myself. It makes me happy to hear her voice saying how much the book has blessed her life. I am positive it was the best decision ever and maybe that is why I had it saved for that long, it was just for her. Now it was time I got a copy for myself.

Purpose Driven Life / for that very special and needed devotional time / by Wanda Lopez Designs - blog

The Purpose-Driven Life takes the groundbreaking message of the award-winning Purpose-Driven Church and goes deeper, applying it to the lifestyle of individual Christians. This book helps readers understand God’s incredible plan for their lives. Warren enables them to see the big picture of what life is all about and begin to live the life God created them to live.

If you are like me, you enjoy reading. During the night before bedtime, at the train on the way home from work, on the plain while traveling, or with a nice cup of tea anytime during the day. Last month I had a couple of “amazing” media trips. They were within a week apart from each other. That meant I needed reading material; I bought myself the The Purpose Driven Life book to read and noticed it was a daily read instead of a couple of sit down read and finish kinda book. This book is written in a captivating devotional style, the book is divided into 42 short chapters (six weeks) that can be read as a daily devotional.

The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose? Self-help books suggest that people should look within, at their own desires and dreams, but Rick Warren says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God’s purposes for putting us on earth.

You must meditate and dig deep in your soul each day and hopefully make (good) changes in your life. Some days were easier than others. It seems like every year, specially during the end of the year I find myself thinking about what I did or didn’t do. The goals I had or the resolution I had set, whether I accomplished them or not and if not, why? Oh boy, did I ever need to star reading Rick Warren’s book.

I heard some of Rick Warren’s services in the past, but it was not until our local church closed it’s doors that I started following his Daily Hope Devotional and services from Saddleback Church on a regular basis. One of the things that captivates me the most is the warm feeling of love and care Rick Warren and the church show to others and among themselves.

Richard Duane “Rick” Warren is an American evangelical Christian pastor and author. He is the founder and senior pastor of Saddleback Church, an evangelical megachurch in Lake Forest, California

I am still enjoying my The Purpose Driven Life daily read and will re-read it with a group. So far it will be my husband and daughters. In the future we can open it to our friends and turn it into a small group study. It is worth every minute you are willing to dedicate to it. Specially if you have been thinking, “there must be something more you can give or do in this lifetime”. Something more than work, cook, clean and care for your family.

This book has its way of heating me hard. It has made me realize which decisions have not been the best I’ve ever taken. If you know me you know I am a kind and considerate person. I am always concerned about leaving people feeling loved and respected. Like you I have also been hurt and misunderstood. It’s the way we react at certain moments that make the difference. When we decide to make things better for everyone that helps us all recover and life a life more fulfilled and healthy; spiritually healthy.

What makes you love a book? One of my daughters loves science fiction, the other loves funny books that has a comic feel to them. I love encouraging books and mystery solving novels. I am a huge Murder She Wrote fan and as of this century the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel.
